Programme nurtures next generation of tech talents

To instill a sense of purpose and vision, about 48 trainees have graduated from this year’s tech talent incubator programme, organised by Kora.
According to the organisers, the Kora Tech Talent Incubator programme, tagged ‘The Curve’, aims not only to impart technical skills but also to empower them to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.

At the graduation and finale of Kora Tech Talent Incubator Programme 2024, Chief Technology Officer, Oluwaseun Adeleye from Kora, emphasised the programme’s mission to nurture the next generation of tech talents and developers across Africa.

He said: “We are trying to build new generations of tech talents and developers in Africa, acknowledging the existing gap in software engineering expertise on the continent. This kind of training will help young engineers to navigate globally, where there is a significant demand for skilled professionals.”

Engineering Lead Frontend, David Ojimba, while he highlighted Kora’s role in addressing payment difficulties, emphasised the importance of linking technical skills to business projects in today’s evolving tech landscape.

“In the last two years, with AI filling the gaps in the tech space, we can’t train engineers on trivial stuff alone. Identifying business needs is crucial and engineers must understand how their work ties into the bigger picture,” he said.
