The newly elected Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Bosede Oyekunle, has pledged to sustain developmental strides and promote capacity growth among members.
In her acceptance speech, Oyekunle thanked members for entrusting her with the leadership of the chapter and paid glowing tribute to her predecessors and team for their dedication and visible accomplishments.
She outlined plans to focus on three areas aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Member Empowerment (SDG 8) through mentorship and financial inclusion of female engineers; Visibility (SDGs 5 and 8) by celebrating achievements and creating opportunities for professional growth; and Professional Growth (SDGs 4 and 9) by investing in training, leadership advancement, and continuous learning.
She assured members of teamwork, transparency, and open communication.
With more than two decades of progressive experience in engineering design, construction, and procurement management for both offshore and onshore facilities, Oyekunle has executed and led projects for leading International Oil Companies (IOCs).
Oyekunle has successfully overseen the timely delivery of multi-location projects, drawing on her extensive engineering expertise and managerial acumen. She holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan, alongside several professional certifications in offshore safety, quality assurance, and related fields.
The new executives include Zansi Adebowale (Vice-Chairman), Suwebat Oriyomi Abubakar (General Secretary), Mosope Adewuyi (Assistant General Secretary), Uchechi Edosomwan (Technical Secretary), Omolola Dorcas Ogungbile (Assistant Technical Secretary), Fatimoh Opeloyeru (Financial Secretary), and Oluwashina Adebayo (Treasurer).
Others elected are Lilian Uzodiagu (Publicity Secretary), Olamitope Dawuda-Adesanya (Assistant Publicity Secretary), Stella John-Taiwo (Ex-Officio I) and Rita Mekwunye (Internal Auditor).
