A protest broke out in the Mokola area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, due to the high cost of living in the country.

The protesters, mostly youths, were seen carrying placards and chanting songs to make their grievances known.

Some of the placards read, ‘End food hike and inflation’, ‘The poor is starving’, ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises’.

Armed policemen were seen at the protest to contain any form of unrest.

On Sunday, the police sent out warnings that no breach of peace would be tolerated during any protest in the state.

Aside from the protest in Oyo, there were others that were held in Minna and Kano State.

Last week, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with governors in Abuja and ruled out the importation of food items.

He stated that he would not set up a price control board.
