Ramadan: Aisha Bagudu urges Muslim faithful to keep the peace, eschew divisive acts

Hajia Aisha, the Wife of the Minister of Budget and National Planning , Sen Atiku Bagudu has called on Muslim faithful to keep the peace and eschew divisive acts in the country.

Aisha who is the founder of the mass literacy for the less privileged of Almajiris Initiative (MALLPAI) foundation spoke while feting thousands of underprivileged persons drawn from the federal capital territory (FCT) and neighbouring Nasarawa and Kaduna states to a lavish iftar meals at the weekend in Abuja.


Mrs Bagudu expressed gratitude to Allah for seeing Muslims faithful through the 20th day of the month of Ramadan urged adherent if the Islamic faith to maintain piety even after the end of Ramadan.

She emphasised the importance of harmonious relationship between Muslim and other religious groups, particularly christains in promoting peace and unity in the country.

“As we return to our respective homes, we must endeavour to sustain the tradition of offering prayers for unity and peaceful coexistence in our country, ” she stated.

She called on the beneficiaries who were gifted take away packs of food items to avoid any act that could not only land them in trouble but breach the peace in the country.

Recalling the philanthropic gesture of the foundation for the past twenty years, she pledged to sustain the tradition of reaching out to the needy in the month of Ramadan in the years ahead.

She called on the rich and privileged Nigerians to reach out to the underprivileged in the society since it is in line with the Islamic injunction.

The Wife of the Minister of Defence, Hajia Bilkisu Matawalle who spoke in the same vein stressed the need for peaceful coexistence among adherents of various faiths in the country.

The senior special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on school feeding, Dr Yetunde Adeniji underlined the need for Muslim faithful to imbibe the virtue of love for one another.

“The month of Ramadan is a special month, it is a month of caring for one another and forgiveness and to pray to Allah for His mercies. Let’s use this opportunity to reach out to each and every one of us and spread love peace harmony and community living and friendship,” she stressed.

Several attendees alike saw the initiative as a heartfelt gesture , receiving emotional prayers and messages of goodwill.

Mallpai foundation founded in 2009, among others seeks to drive out illiteracy in communities, enrich the minds of the youth and help develop unskilled women.
