Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

According to the governor, the state government took the step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the Sallah celebration with their families.

The decision also followed the Federal Government’s good gesture of extending the public holidays to Thursday, April 11.

In a statement, yesterday, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Zango, quoted the governor as wishing the good people of the state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.

He further urged the people to be security-conscious and pray for peace to reign in the state and the nation at large as they celebrate.

HOWEVER, Spiritual leader and National Ameer of Daaru-r-Rahmat (DARMAT) Islamic Society, Musibau-deen Olawale, has urged Nigerian governments to drastically reduce and stabilise food prices as the nation enjoys relief on foreign exchange.

The cleric gave the advice, yesterday, in Ilorin, Kwara State on the sidelines of Eid-el-fitr celebration.

He stated: “The prevalent economic situation in the country, caused by the increase in the prices of foods, has continued to take a toll on the livelihood of Nigerians. The development is so devastating that it is hard for many homes to feed well. This has affected the health of the people.

“With the improvement in Nigeria’s naira against the United States dollar, the federal and state governments should work together and ensure that prices of food items are stabilised and reduced to enable us to have access to foods with ease.”

He also called on the Muslim faithful not to go back to the sinful acts they had refrained from during the month of Ramadan to be able to receive Allah’s blessings.

BENUE State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has advised the Muslim Ummah to uphold the lessons of kindness, forgiveness, and sacrifice, which the month of Ramadan teaches.

In his Ramadan message to Muslims, yesterday, in Makurdi, the catholic priest-turned-politician also asked for prayers for peace and development of Benue.

He congratulated the Muslim faithful for their successful completion of fasting in the month of Ramadan.

The governor identified insecurity and unstable economy as major impediments to the speedy development of the country. He called on Muslims to always remember to include the state in their prayers.

KOGI State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, has enjoined his subjects to continue to work together as a family to build a state where everyone can flourish in line with his administration’s agenda for consolidation and continuity tied to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The governor, who stated this in his Eid-el-fitr message to the people of the state, assured that his administration would continue to work for the peace, progress and prosperity of the people because they were elected to serve the people’s best interest.

He stressed that the government shall continue to always uphold the tenets of servant-leadership in his approach to governance in the state.

Ododo said: “Let us cherish the spirit of unity and compassion that defines this day, and let it inspire us to continue working together towards a brighter future for our people and our state.

“Let us use this period to reflect on our shared values of love, compassion and solidarity, and to renew our commitment to building a stronger and more vibrant Kogi together.”
