Replace Adamawa REC for supplementary election, PDP charges INEC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded immediate removal of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, Mallam Hudu Yunusa Ari, to allow for a free and fair conduct of April 15 supplementary election in that state.

The party declared at a press briefing in Abuja, yesterday, that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is stoking a breakdown of law and order in Adamawa with continued stay in office of Ari as the state’s REC in spite of his alleged complicity in plots to manipulate the outcome of the governorship election in the state, even with PDP’s clear lead of 31,299 lawful votes in the election.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, who presided over the meeting said: “It is provocative and unacceptable that INEC retained Ari to conduct the April 15 governorship re-run election despite being reportedly caught on tape directing the Electoral Officer of Fufore Council, in Hausa Language, to alter election results in favour of the defeated governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aisha Binani.”
