The G60 House of Representatives coalition led by Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere have been asked to stop meddling on matters surrounding the governance of oil rich Rivers state.
The Coalition for Good Governance in Rivers State led by Comrade Joe Samson in a statement on Thursday in Abuja described the G60 Reps members as meddlesome interlopers operating outside the jurisdiction of the lower legislative chamber.
They called on Ugochinyere representing Ideato federal constituency of Imo state to steer clear of the politics of Rivers state and refocusing his attention on the plight of his people who are still compelled to stay at home on Mondays due to the activities of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).
“He is not a Rivers man and he is totally irrelevant in the affairs of Rivers State. He once raised alarms that a man was responsible for killing his uncle and burning his cars. He already facing enough troubles in his home and personal life and has not demonstrated any ability to solve them,” they noted.
Besides, the Coalition maintained that there are no more than 7 House of Representatives members in the Ugochinyere led group as against the notion held in certain quarters that their numerical strength is up to 60.
Frowning at the Ugochinyere led group for pouring invectives on the Minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, the group wondered why the leadership of the House of Representatives has not invoked necessary sanctions against them for allegedly bringing a respected institution to disrepute.
They argued that the call by the G60 Reps on the government of Rivers State to invoke sections of the criminal code and institute treason charges against the 23 local government chairmen and their alleged sponsors as a clear case of display of ignorance and disregards of the fact that the State Assembly has extended their tenure for another 6 months and that the matter is currently before the Court of Appeal.
They thereby posed the following questions to the Ugochinyere led group this: “Why did he remain silent when Fubara burnt down and demolished the Rivers State House of Assembly and Legislative Complex and committed other unconstitutional acts?
“Are there no problems or challenges in his home state of Imo that require his attention and focus?
“Why is he getting involved in matters outside his own constituency when Rivers State has its own elected and competent representatives who are very vocal in the National Assembly?
“Why does he deceive the public by claiming to represent the “G60” when the actual number of members in his group is 7?”
