Results released by INEC does not reflect wishes of people, Rhodes-Vivour

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Sunday said the elections released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not reflect the wishes of voters.

Rhodes-Vivour accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and INEC of colluding to disenfranchise voters in many parts of the state.

“Collusion between the ruling party and electoral officials to return the candidate of the APC is a slap on the face of democracy and everyone who came out to vote for us on Saturday,” Rhodes-Vivour said in a statement shared on his Twitter handle.

He insisted that the results collated by his party agents across the state indicated that he won the election and vowed to defend every vote cast for him.

He blamed the APC for the widespread violence that characterised the election in many local councils.

“Attacks on polling units, voters, and our party agents are totally antithetical to what we stand for and what Lagos truly represents,” Rhodes-Vivour said.

“Every vote cast for me was done in the face of intimidation and risk of personal harm. Every such vote must count.”
