The Rivers Democratic Agenda (RDA) has extended its congratulations to Hon. Oko Jumbo on his recent election as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. In a statement signed by its leader, Hon. Iko Rowland, the group commended the assembly members for their support of Jumbo’s leadership and noted that his election brings an end to the controversies surrounding the assembly’s leadership.

Rowland praised Jumbo’s character, describing him as a man of integrity whose emergence as Speaker will lead to a wave of positive transformation in the state. He noted that Jumbo has already demonstrated qualities of a true democrat, showing respect for the rule of law and the Nigerian Constitution.

RDA urged the new Speaker to focus on legislation that benefits citizens and to strengthen the executive-legislature relationship for the sake of the people of Rivers State. The group called for unity among assembly members, encouraging them to work together to end any lingering animosity.

“We are issuing this terse statement to congratulate the Honorable Member representing Bonny Constituency, Hon. Oko Jumbo, on his victory as the Speaker,” Rowland said. “His emergence is not only well-deserved, given his pedigree and academic qualifications, but also timely and crucial.”

Rowland added that Jumbo’s emergence as Speaker will bring stability and a new direction to the assembly, and he expressed RDA’s full support for his leadership. He encouraged any aggrieved members of the assembly to embrace unity and focus on the collective welfare of Rivers State.

RDA believes that Jumbo’s tenure as Speaker will prioritize the interests of Rivers people and contribute to the overall development of the state. The group is confident that Jumbo will work to advance the state’s democratic values and ensure that the assembly performs its legislative and oversight functions effectively.

“We, therefore, wish to extend our support to him and assure him that Rivers people are behind him,” Rowland concluded.
