Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, yesterday, commiserated with the state Police Command over the death of Inspector Collins David, who died in active duty recently while serving under the Ahoada Division of the state Command.

The governor also presented a cash endowment of N20 million to the widow of the slain policeman.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of the governor, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, at the Headquarters of the State Police Command, in Port Harcourt, said that the gesture is the state government’s demonstration of commitment to ensuring that families of policemen, who lost their lives in the cause of serving the state, are not left in desolation.

According to him: “This is in continuation of traditions of the state security architecture of partnering the police and other security agencies in the fight against crime, and to let you know that the state government will always stand with you; this is a token of support.”

“We understand money cannot replace life, but it is a way of showing support to men and officers, who serve in the state.
