Rivers poly begins probe of employment racketeering

Elechi Amadi Polytechnic

The management of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic has commenced an investigation into the employment processes and alleged selection process by the past school administration.

Chairman of the Council, Robinson Nname-Ewor, who disclosed this in an interview, however, clarified that the current council was not part of the employment process.

He stated that his team is doing everything possible to ensure that all mistakes are rectified.

Recall that some prospective employees, waiting to be engaged, had protested the employment process, describing it as a ruse and skewed in favour of some applicants.

The protesters alleged that they had gone through the screening exercise and every other process, and were given employment letters, but were not engaged.

While exonerating his team from the entire process, the Council Chairman said efforts are on to find out why employment letters were issued and the people were not engaged.

Nname-Ewor, who assured of a conducive learning environment, however, lamented that the school lacks adequate infrastructure for students, having transitioned from the School of Basic Studies to the College of Art and Science, and now Polytechnic.

He said the institution also lacks technical teachers and the necessary facilities for practicals, which would enable students to gain the needed knowledge.

He, however, stated that efforts are on to reach out to the state government on funds for hostels, and the building of faculties and other structures needed for the smooth operation of the school.
