Rotary, foundation renovate children’s ward at Gbagada Hospital

Rotary Club of Gbagada and the George Charitable Foundation have renovated and expanded the Children’s Ward at Gbagada General Hospital, to improve health care delivery.

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Hamzat, during the commissioning of the ward, lauded the commitment of both organisations towards improving the quality of lives of Lagosians through charitable donations.  He said the move was a clear demonstration of their commitments to maternal and child health care, which is worthy of emulation.

According to him, the renovation would specifically cater for the wellbeing of the people by providing additional infrastructural facilities that would aid quality health care delivery in the hospital.

Earlier, the president, Rotary Club of Gbagada District 9110, Olubunmi Oguntade, said the commissioning was aimed at saving the children, noting that the ward was open not only to the Gbagada community, but also to the entire Lagos State community.

“ We have the Emergency Section, Out and In-patients Section, a room for the mothers and others. Courtesy of our renovation, the ambience is now smarter and there is much more space to accommodate more. Before now, they were able to attend to a I,000 patients, but now they would be able to attend to 3,000 patients because we have expanded it,” she said.

The Chairman, George Charitable Foundation, Mr. Tein George, said the project was basically to give back to the society and assist fellow citizens to support Lagos to do good and help with the development of the country.
