Rotary Zone 8 Cluster carry out clean up exercise at Computer village

Rotary International District 9110 Zone 8 Cluster has executed a community clean up project in commemoration of the yearly Rotary Week of Service at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.

The exercise, which is in line with Rotary’s Community Service, had members of eight clubs clean the wastes littering the computer village and its environs.

The project was jointly delivered by eight Rotary Clubs, which include Rotary Club of Arepo Longbridge, Rotary Club of Maryland, Rotary Club of Ikorodu Golden, Rotary club of Ikorodu Metropolitan, Rotary club of Mende-Creatives, Rotary club of Mende Midtown, Rotary club of New Lagos, Ikeja and Rotary club of Owutu-Isawo.

Speaking at the event, the President, Rotary Club of Mende Creatives, Rotn. Oluwatosin Sanyaolu, said the exercise in computer village was to commemorate the Rotary week of service and to fulfill one of its core avenues of service to humanity, which is community service.

She said the Rotary clubs also sensitised members and customers of the market on the benefits of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Also, the President, Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metro, Rotn. Idris Seyi Ashamu, said computer village was chosen for the exercise because the environment generates high rate of wastes.

He said the exercise also availed the Rotary club members the opportunity to educate the computer Village community on the need to prioritise cleaning their environment.

Ashamu further stated that the Rotary club of Ikorodu Metro is organising free cataract screening and surgery for suspected or established cases for residents of Lagos.

The exercise was well appreciated and applauded by the community and also stirred the interest of Rotary in the minds of everyone present.
