Zaidu Sanusi has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering an acute cruciate ligament injury in FC Porto’s league game against CF Estrela on Saturday.

Sanusi was in action for Porto in their home fixture but had to go off in the 32nd minute.

Speaking after the game, Porto coach Sérgio Conceição described Sanusi’s injury as serious.

“I think it is serious, it comes from a clear foul, and that play causes the injury,” Sérgio Conceição was quoted on Portuguese publication, Abola.

“We are having little luck with the refereeing, anyway, it happened.

“We are sad for Zaidu, I think the season is over for him and we are shaken by this situation, which was to be avoided, as it was a clear foul and we were left without a player for the rest of the time.”

Sanusi is now a huge doubt for the Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in June.

He was part of the Eagles’squad that finished as runners-up at the AFCON 2023.
