Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Lagos residents to continue to support members of the armed forces and their families.

Represented by his Deputy Chief of State, Gboyega Soyanwo, the governor added that it is also an opportunity to remember the families left behind as well as those who have become incapacitated, one way or the other, as a result of injuries sustained in the war front.

He said this at the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day special Sunday service. Sanwo-Olu said that the annual remembrance day is important because it helps to appreciate the sacrifice of the departed as well as pray for the continued repose of their souls.

“This occasion also present the opportunity for us to remember in our prayers members of our armed forces who are sacrificing so much to keep the country safe against evil forces across the country.

“I wish to call on all the good people of Lagos State to continue to support members of our armed forces and their families.
“Let us always remember them in our prayers so that God almighty will continue to grant them victory in Jesus mighty name…..Amen”

In his sermon, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Daniel Olukoya, who spoke on honouring sacrifice, said that sacrifice is very important if anyone wants to amount to anything in life.

Represented by Assistant General Overseer, Mountain Of Fire and Miracles, Ladoja abiodun, Olukoya noted that many of the youths do not to go through the route of sacrificing to attain greatness, reason they want to go through the easy route, making them get involved in many illegalities.

He further said that sacrifice is giving what one has in order to get something better, stating that behind every glory is a story.

He noted: “If you ever succeeded without sacrifice, it is because someone has made an earlier sacrifice. The sacrifice of today is the pleasure of tomorrow.”

He observed that good and great nations are built on sacrifice so if Nigerians want a great nation, they must sacrifice to make it great.
