Ahead 75th birthday, BCOS RATTAWU visits Lekan Alabi

The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) chapter of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), under the leadership of its chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Faleti, has paid a courtesy visit to Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, in anticipation of his 75th birthday celebration.

Speaking during the visit, Comrade Faleti said the union’s executives deemed it important to honour Alabi ahead of his forthcoming three-in-one celebration scheduled for October 1, which includes his 75th birthday, his elevation from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan, and the public presentation of a book in his honour.

He described Alabi as a consistent supporter of the union and a passionate promoter of the media in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

In his response, Baba Alabi expressed delight at the visit and commended BCOS RATTAWU for their goodwill. He noted that he was particularly pleased to be marking his 75th birthday at the BCOS RATTAWU Multipurpose Hall, a facility he shares fond memories of, having witnessed both its foundation and official commissioning alongside notable dignitaries including the union’s national president, Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), Mr. Taofeek Adegboyega, Oriyomi Amzat, and BCOS chairperson, Mrs. Dotun Olaitan, among others.

Alabi explained that he chose the BCOS RATTAWU Hall for the celebration because of its central location and conducive environment. He appreciated the union for standing by him at such a significant moment of his life and urged the leadership of BCOS RATTAWU to leave behind enduring legacies that will continue to uplift the union.
