Over 250 professionals from the nation’s integrated marketing communications space, recently gathered at the 10th Nigeria Digital PR Summit, in Lagos, to mark a decade of innovation, storytelling, and reputation leadership in Nigeria’s digital communication space.
Tagged, ‘Digital PR in Action: Owning Your Narrative, Telling Your Story’, the two-day summit organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Chapter, saw practitioners, comprising communication professionals, brand managers, influencers, digital strategists, academics, and media leaders from across the country, agreeing on the need to use technology to speak truthfully and with purpose.
Reflecting on the exploits of the summit in the past one decade, its Convener, Segun McMedal, expressed delight that the annual event had, from its humble beginnings, grown into a national platform, where the future of communication in Nigeria and beyond, is being shaped
“Ten years ago, this summit started as a small experiment; a bold idea called the Lagos Digital PR Summit. Today, that small idea has evolved into a national movement that has empowered thousands of professionals and inspired new conversations on ethical, data-driven, and human-centered digital communication,” he stated
The former Lagos NIPR Chairman added that the essence of this year’s summit was to re-emphasise the need for brands to be more transparent, and communicators more intentional.
“It is for all of us to use technology, not just to speak louder, but to speak truthfully and with purpose,” McMedal stated.
The event featured a keynote presentation titled “Cybersecurity Meets Storytelling: Protecting National and Corporate Reputation in the Digital Space,” delivered by the Chief Visionary Officer, Digital Encode, Prof. Obadare Adewale.
A major highlight of the two-day event was the second Nigeria Digital PR Awards Gala, which recognise outstanding individuals, brands, and campaigns, shaping Nigeria’s digital PR space.
The night also featured the unveiling of the glossy 4th edition of the Digital PR Digest, a flagship publication, showcasing thought leadership articles from leading professionals and academics across the communication industry.
In line with the 10th-anniversary celebration, the evening also featured a fashion runway, a fusion of fashion, technology, and storytelling, showcasing creativity and innovation in the digital economy.
