The 2025 edition of the Edge Awards organized yearly by Marketing Edge Publications Limited was held last week where some of the most successful brands, creative agencies, public service and political brand personalities were honoured.
In his welcome address, the Publisher of Marketing Edge, John Ajayi, thanked the Nigerian business community, and indeed the marketing and advertising sub-sector of the national economy, for their years of support, patronage and acceptability in the last 13 years that the award has been held.
“In these past years of our operations, we are proud to say that we have impacted the society through our agenda-setting role in all ramifications. And of course, we thank our sponsors / exhibitors and patrons for their generous support. Every year we gather to celebrate brands and advertising excellence, you always add colour and grandeur to it by making it a festival of brands and ideas. Without you, this event would not have been this colorful and memorable. Ours have become one of the most anticipated events in the social calendar of the Nigerian integrated marketing communications eco-system.”
He also thanked the award committee for their time, energy and rigorous dedication, as they have had the difficult task of making the occasion a beautiful reality. “Identifying the different awards categories and winners that emerged have not been a tea party after all.
“The Committee, working in conjunction with our Editorial Board and Business Intelligence Unit have painstakingly touched almost all areas of our target audience.
While their decisions were not based on any scientific proofs, they have relied largely on data, statistics and content reviews / analysis, as well as market insights gleaned from robust investigative journalism of some awards categories.
“I would like to take this opportunity to share a few words about the importance of awards ceremonies. Awards ceremonies are a way of recognising and celebrating the achievements of others. They are a reminder that hard work, service and dedication are rewarded. They also inspire others to strive for excellence.”
Ajayi observed that the annual Edge Awards has become a powerhouse that galvanises the industry to brainstorm on contemporary and topical issue in an effort to extend the frontiers of knowledge in the business of brand management and the management of brand business, as well as provide the environment for stakeholders engagement to chart the way forward for the industry.
“By rebranding the signature awards and expanding the categories to encompass diverse sectors such as Oil and Gas, ICT, Insurance, Air Transport, Politics, Road Transport, Construction, Real Estate, Health Care, Infrastructure, and more, the EDGE AWARDS aims to recognise and celebrate excellence across a broad range of industries.”
