Sabi Chef, a street food cooking competition stormed a number of major markets in Lagos to create awareness and sensitise residents, traders, chefs and vendors about the upcoming show.
The street activation which started at the popular Tejuosho Market, Yaba, had Sabi Chef ambassadors moving from shop to shop, street to street speaking with and on-boarding prospective participants about the cooking competition and food festival.
The show scheduled to hold on December 8 at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, will witness many side attractions including good music, dancing competition, games, food tasting and family oriented merriment.
During the week-long street sensitisation activities, other markets and areas visited in Lagos include Lagos Island, Ikorodu, Ogba and Oshodi.
Many fans of the show won various cash and other prizes for participating in dance, quizzes and other recreational activities.
Speaking on the street activation, the Editor-in-chief of Newspread.ng, the organisers of Sabi Chef, Uche Nnadozie expressed joy over the incident-free week-long activities.
“We are very proud of what we have done. Engaging with the streets directly for a show that is meant for the street. No incident whatsoever, thus showing how safe our city is and how much the streets trust us to organise a show for them,” he said.
Also speaking during the awareness walk at the Ikorodu market, Shola Ewuola, the CEO of the parent company of Newspread.ng and Chairman of NT News Ltd, said: “I am happy with the acceptance shown us by our people. They own this process. They own the show. We just want to give back to the streets, to recognise the talents on our streets and elevate them to a global stage.”
Nnadozie urged Lagosians to visit www.sabichef.com to pre-register to attend the grand finale of the show. He said admission is free.
