Two Nigerian fashion brands, Henri Uduku and Black Fine and Fly, will represent the country at the Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) 2025, holding from August 9 to 10 at Space House, London.
The showcase, organised under the auspices of the British Council, will feature a catwalk presentation and an exhibition pavilion highlighting early-stage designers from across Africa. It is designed to give participants new international connections, access to markets, and opportunities for collaboration and business growth.
The Nigerian designers will join eight others from Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana and Zimbabwe. All are current participants or alumni of the Creative DNA fashion accelerator, a British Council programme that has supported more than 200 fashion entrepreneurs in seven African countries since 2020 through mentorship, business development and international showcasing.
Henri Uduku, founder and creative director of menswear label, has previously presented his designs at international platforms, including the Creative Africa Nexus in Cairo and Creative Economy Week 2025 in Harare; while Black Fine and Fly, a recent entrant into the programme, is an Afro-European collective known for denim designs inspired by African heritage and culture.
In addition to the runway and exhibition, the designers will take part in business clinics, panel discussions, and tours of retail and manufacturing hubs in London. They will meet UK fashion experts from Westminster University and the Fashion Retail Academy, and gain exposure to ethical production practices, sustainability models and global fashion standards.
