Biggy Khali takes reflective, gratitude route in EP, ‘Àdǐcámâñjã’

Afrobeats is currently a budding genre out of Africa. With the expected American domination, the genre might be in for a global domination. While the gains and expected successes are alluring to hear and anticipate. One drawback which continues to plague the industry remains giving credit to songwriters. Songwriters are rarely given their respect; artistes are even scared to talk about them. While it is obvious, they might have done the large chunk of the job in the studio, when the song finally gets released, the songwriter’s voice is hardly heard.

The new school of Nigerian artiste seems to be changing the game as they give credit whenever it is due, one of such is Nigeria based artiste Biggy Khali. In his songs, he has been crediting the songwriter and every personnel behind his song. This type of accountability is something that should be encouraged by others and emulated by other musicians.

On his Àdǐcámâñjã EP which was released on February 11, 2022. The singer features Warship on “Baje Tomatoes” and A6ixx on “Fall to Rise.” The two track extended play feature the best hands.

A6ixx, a fine vocalist took the hook on “Fall to Rise,” which opens the track, with the singer moving between the beat sequence. Just like expected the lyrics of the song are motivating, it is set to inspire the listeners to work hard towards their goal. They refrain with the line “who doesn’t fall”, the most important thing is to rise. The songwriters on this song were Angela Ugiaumbeye Utsu, Cornelius Ayabie aka BIGGY Khali, Uwaneyin Daniel, Williams Akintoye and Victor Thomas. Danny Bazuaye Beatz produces the song with Viighoo, B4umatrix mixing the track.

Warship is arguably the most brilliant underground artiste out of Nigeria. The Kaduna State born singer smartly knows how to lay the finest hook. He delivers it in such a way you think it was built for it. He brings his ingenuity to fore on this song.

“Baje Tomatoes,” is half gospel and half inspiring with the singer praising God for its blessing, while he is not oblivious to naysayers’ takes about his life, he looks out for the bright side of life. He likened himself to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Àdǐcámâñjã the EP was released by Ameboloaded Worldwide. The songwriters on “Fall to Rise,” are Liwhundebe Clement Ugbem, Cornelius Ayabie aka Biggy Khali, Angela Ugiaumbeye Utsu, Uwaneyin Daniel, and Victor Thomas. The production of the song was handled by Danny Bazuaye Beatz while Viighoo & B4umatrix mixed the track. The executive producer of the song is Carl Chinegwu aka Rudebone.

On “Baje Tomatoes,” Warship and Biggy Khali explore the gratitude arc as they praise the Most High for its blessings. It doesn’t sound like the traditional gospel song yet it delivers the message of giving thanks whenever it is necessary.

Biggy Khali’s collaborative effort is commendable, likewise him showing support to underground artists like A6ixx and Warship.
