Organisers of the much-anticipated Nigeria Comedy Awards has announced call for entry and open the portal for a special voting category tagged ‘Revelation of the Year’, through which an exceptional newcomer in the nation’s diverse comedy industry would be rewarded with N1,000,000 cash and a plaque.

The awards, an annual glamorous event that honour the outstanding performers and projects in Nigeria’s robust comedy industry, is being organised by a team headed by Founder Afrotainment, Bunmi Davies – Event Producer; Executive Director, Royal Roots Communication Network; Debbie Odutayo – Project Consultant; Managing Director, Wale Adenuga Productions, Wale Adenuga Jnr. and Wole Adenuga, Managing Director, wapTV – Executive Producers.

Speakinng about the awards, the Co-Executive Producer, Wole Adenuga, said, “Since we started releasing teasers to promote the event, the feedback we have received has been really awesome; millions of Nigerians, home and abroad, are really looking forward to celebrating with the nominees and winners.”

“The ‘Revelation of the Year’ category is open to all new comedic performers including, but not limited to, Standup Comedy, Dance, Music, and Acting on TV, Movies, and Skits. Details on the entry process are available on Instagram: @NigeriaComedyAwards. The full list of nominees for all 24 categories would be announced soon,” he added.

According to Adenuga, the maiden edition of the awards will take place on Sunday, September 24, at the Eko Conference Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, with 1,000 people expected to be in attendance physically, and watched by millions across the world on wapTV (DStv 262, StarTimes 116, GOtv 129, FreeTV 751, Play 275, and MyTV), R2TV (GOtv 145), RaveTV (GOtv 146, FreeTV 745), and other stations.
