Afrobeats queen, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, better known as Tiwa Savage, is gunning for Grammy glory with a bold move, as she has submitted seven entries for the 2026 awards ceremony scheduled to hold on February 1, 2026.

Her latest and fourth studio album, This One Is Personal, featuring collaborations with Taves, Skepta and James Fauntleroy, is at the centre of her campaign, showcasing her emotional storytelling and genre-bending sound.

Dubbed one of the most audacious bids ever by an African artiste, the self-professed ‘original African bad girl’ is aiming at ‘Best Global Music Album, Best Album Cover, Best Global Music Performance, Best African Music Performance, Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

Her popular single, You4Me, stands out with dual submissions in the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, emphasising her role as a trailblazer in the Afrobeats movement, while This One Is Personal, the album cover aims at ‘Best Global Music Album’ and ‘Best Album Cover’.

Tiwa’s R&B roots are celebrated through nominations in Best R&B Performance for 10%; Best Traditional R&B Performance for I’m Done, and Best R&B Song for Holding It Down.

With the submissions, the hitmaker is not only making a statement for herself, but also putting African music on the global map, as her entries span across multiple genres, showcasing her versatility and influence in the international music scene.

Critics have lauded the album for its maturity, introspection and creative evolution. Publications like Rolling Stone hailed her as the “Afrobeats foremother,” while Billboard described her new sound as “Tiwa Savage like you’ve never heard her before.”

If any of her submissions end up getting nominated on November 7, it would be another huge moment for music diva and for African music as a whole, further cementing her status as one of the continent’s most influential global ambassadors.
