Scholarship: Kebbi releases N309.5m for 86 students in India, Egypt

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi has released N309.5 million for the payment of foreign scholarships to 86 indigenes studying in India and Egypt.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, made this known at a news conference in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.

The commissioner said “Gov. Nasir Idris has made payment of foreign scholarship to Kebbi indigenes studying in India and Egypt.

“The sum of N228.1 million is for 63 students in India, while N81.4 million is for 23 students in Egypt, totalling N309.5 million.”


Abubakar-Tunga said that “the remaining 50 foreign students should have their expenses settled within the soonest possible time.”

He explained that the local scholarship of all the state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across the country had also been paid in February.

He thanked the governor for efforts toward the higher education sector.
