Security operatives kill five gunmen in Ebonyi

Security operatives, yesterday, killed five gunmen who attacked Isieke police station in Ebonyi State.

It was gathered that the gunmen came in two vehicles and started shooting, causing confusion and panic in the neighbourhood

The Guardian learnt that the policemen on duty responded and succeeded in gunning down five of the attackers.

Confirming the development, Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, Augustine Ogbodo, said the command was very happy with the show of force by the officers.

Ogbodo also urged residents to have faith in the ability of the police.

Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to the community as people were seen in groups discussing the incident, which forced many residents to flee to neighbouring communities for safety.

A source told The Guardian: “We started running for our dear lives. I took my family and we hid in a nearby bush for safety. I thank the police for their quick intervention. They have done well.”
