Senate deserve a competent leader like Barau Jibrin, says Garba

Senate deserve a competent leader like Barau Jibrin, says GarbaA Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba has urged the party’s leadership to zone the Senate President’s position to the North West.

Garba said the representative of Kano North senatorial district, Senator Barau Jibrin should be elected as the Senate President for the 10th Assembly due to his competence and role in Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory.

The party Chieftain said Jibrin’s competence amongst other aspirant can be measured in diverse spheres of human endeavor in the eight assembly.

According to Garba, Jibrin’s competency when compared to other candidates, may be evaluated across a variety of fields of human effort in the eight assembly.
He explained that once he becomes Senate President, the Kano lawmaker will incorporate the administration of national unity.

The Senate President’s office, according to Garba, should not be considered a retirement home for former governors but rather be seen as a serious position that would enact legislation that will determine Nigeria’s future and impact positively the lives of its citizens.

He added that giving the North West the Senate’s presidency will solidify the region’s support for the APC, ensuring victory in future elections.

He said: “So that is why personally, I believe that most of the aspirants of the Senate Presidency knows that there is no person that is as qualified as Senator Barau Jibrin. Why did I say so? This man started his political career in the national assembly since 1999. He started by joining the Green Chambers/House of Representatives first, after building successful businesses and after also passing through extensive training programs in different endeavors in his career journey.

“If you notice what happened in the eight assembly, because of lack of proper team management and proper structure especially around appropriation, we had a rancorous house. It was the 9th Assembly, that came and consolidated and brought order, composure that tune in the programs of the APC government and that enabled the successes we have recorded especially in the second term of President Muhammadu Buhari Administration.

“The Red Chamber has been more organized than it has ever been since 1999, because there has been proper structure of working relationship with the executive. And if we have this mature leadership, that drives this success, why can’t we allow Senator Barau Jibrin to be able to drive the Office of the Senate President, so that we can be able to have a co-ordinated and better organized and responsible government that meets the needs and yearnings of Nigerians. “That is why I believe that Senator Barau Jibrin is the most qualified, especially looking at his personal antecedents in public service, his activities in the Senate as the highest-ranking member,” he said.

“Our job as stakeholders of our country is for us to clamour for a less rancorous, less confusing, less controversial senate president leadership. And the only way you can do that is with a strong personality like Barau Jibrin, who has the capacity to bring to the table the North South East West National Assembly members within the senate, cater for everybody’s interest, unite the senate and drive the agenda of the new administration.

“If we take the Senate Presidency to the North West, we will consolidate North West much better and mainstream them and make every member of the North West a continuous member of the APC, that would keep guaranteeing us victory in subsequent elections and the only one that has that capacity and competence is Senator Barau Jibrin.
“Kano State gave 513,000 votes next to Lagos, Kano North senatorial districts where Senator Barau Jibrin come from gave over 200,000 votes, that’s nearly half of the entire Kano State vote in just concluded election.

“Senator Orji Uzor Kalu gave meagerly Only 8,000 votes, but had forty something thousand votes to himself, in the same election, same people, the same procedure, the same INEC, the same BVAS, the same procedure, in an election held in the same day, within the same state. Now how do you draw such comparison?

“If you go to Senator Godswill Akpabio, from the South South, he has tried to galvanize his people, but what is the percentage of votes given to the APC in his state? Its minimal compared to the number of votes delivered by Barau Jibrin. Considering all these, no one would incentivize areas where we have much failure. We can’t compensate areas with much failure with reward as high as that of a Senate President.” he said.
