In a remarkable testament to perseverance and foresight, the Ondo Auto Rally commemorates its seventh year of triumph in 2024. From its inception, this motorsports spectacle has evolved into a beacon of excellence, guided by the visionary leadership of Adeoye Ojuoko.
“Today, we celebrate not just the success of the Ondo Auto Rally, but also the spirit of determination that propelled us forward. Our journey parallels that of Formula One, from humble beginnings to global recognition,” remarked Director of the Ondo Auto Rally, Adeoye Ojuoko.
Initiated seven years ago by Adeoye Ojuoko, the Ondo Auto Rally was conceived as a means to establish Ilara-Mokin as Africa’s hub for motorsports. Facing obstacles akin to those encountered by Formula One in its nascent stages, Ojuoko remained resolute in his pursuit.
“Our vision was audacious, to transform Ilara into Africa’s motorsports Mecca. Despite the challenges, we remained steadfast, driven by the belief that dreams, when fueled by determination, can overcome any hurdle,” he said.
Through strategic alliances and unwavering commitment, Ojuoko’s dream materialised into reality. The unveiling of Nigeria’s first purpose-built off-road track in Ilara-Mokin marked a pivotal moment in the rally’s history, setting the stage for further innovation.
“Partnering with Mr. Bukola Feyisitan, we established XKart Promotions to champion the development of motorsports. The introduction of the X-Kart Series in March 2024 injected fresh vitality into the Ondo Auto Rally, attracting participants from across Nigeria,” Ojuoko explained.
Today, the Ondo Auto Rally transcends conventional notions of racing, evolving into a multifaceted celebration of resilience and ingenuity. Vintage car exhibitions, bike races, drifting showcases, culinary delights, and live entertainment converge to create an immersive experience.
Ojuoko said: “As engines roar and machines zip through the tracks, Ilara-Mokin stands as a testament to the power of dreams. Our legacy resonates not only across Nigeria but throughout the African racing landscape, inspiring future generations of motorsports enthusiasts.”
