Seun Kuti, Damian Marley Set To Release New Song ‘Dey’

Seun Kuti and Damian Marley are set to release their latest single titled “Dey.” This marks the first musical collaboration between the Kuti and Marley families.

Seun Kuti son of Afrobeats legend Fela Kuti, announced the song to feature Damian Marley, the son of the iconic reggae artist Bob Marley and a four-time Grammy Award winner, the track will also include Seun’s Egypt 80 band.

In an Instagram post, Seun expressed his excitement: “I’m feeling very honoured to announce our first single, DEY, featuring a great brother, Damian Marley.”

The collaboration is expected to be a contemporary blend of Afrobeat and reggae, reminiscent of the musical styles of Fela and Bob Marley. The title “Dey,” which means “stay” in Nigerian pidgin English, adds an element of intrigue, and fans eagerly await the fusion of Afro-Highlife and reggae rhythms.

This historic collaboration will be available on all streaming platforms on June 26. Seun Kuti, Damian Marley, and their families are looking forward to the support and reception of this significant release.

Seun’s upcoming album promises features from various renowned artists, and he is currently on a North American tour, which started on June 14 in San Diego and will conclude on June 16 in Los Angeles, where he will join the iconic Soul Rebels as a guest.

This collaboration follows a previous attempt at a musical partnership in 2013, during the Felabration event, where Julian and Ky-Mani Marley performed Fela Kuti’s “M.O.P. (Movement Of The People).”
