Seven die, 83 injured in Bauchi crashes

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that seven persons died while 83 others sustained injuries in two road crashes in Bauchi State yesterday.

The Sector Commander, Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi, told The Guardian that the first accident happened in Kwanan Dallol in Darazo Local Council where six out of 72 passengers died.


He said that the crash involved a commercial truck with registration number AA-476-MSA driven by Alh. Saidu Misau. “It was reported to us about 910a.m. and our men got to the scene about 9.21 a.m.,” he added.

He stated that his men were mobilised to the scene to evacuate the injured for treatment and deposit lifeless bodies to Darazo Hospital morgue.

Also, the FRSC boss said that another accident in Dungulbi Village, Bauchi, recorded one fatality among 18 passengers.

According to Abdullahi, the second accident occurred about 10.54 a.m. when a Toyota Hummer Bus with registration number FG-25C04 and a Ford commercial vehicle with registration number KTG-808-TT were engaging in a wrong overtaking.

He said the victims and the corpse were taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).
