Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla, have agreed to sign Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke who is now a free agent.

This is according to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano disclosed that verbal agreement is already in place with Sevilla on contract terms, medical and signature are booked for next week.

Sevilla are the most successful team in the history of the UEFA Europa League, winning the competition seven times.

They have only won the LaLiga title once which was in the 1945/1946 league season.

Also, they have won the Copa del Rey five times and secured the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in 2006 when they thrashed Barcelona 3-0.

Ejuke suspended his contract with CSKA Moscow for the 2022–23 season, having taken advantage of the FIFA ruling relating to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On 13 July 2022, Ejuke joined Hertha BSC in Germany for the 2022–23 season, and came on in the 56th minute of Hertha Berlins 3-1 loss to Union Berlin for his debut on the 6 August 2022.

Then on 30 July 2023, Belgian champions Royal Antwerp announced the signing of Ejuke on a one-year deal.

The club referred that an exemption from FIFA for players active in Russia allowed the deal to happen.

The 26-year-old signed a three-year contract with Eliteserien side VÃ¥lerenga in March 2017.

In July 2019, he moved to the Netherlands to play for SC Heerenveen, ignoring interest from clubs as Besiktas JK and Lazio Roma.

Ejuke made his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a friendly 1–1 game with Tunisia on 13 October 2020 under German coach Gernot Rohr.

The skillful forward was a member of the Super Eagles squad that featured at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

His only appearance for the Eagles was in their opening game against Pharaohs of Egypt which the Nigerian team won 1-0.

Since his appearance at the AFCON 2021, Ejuke has not been invited again.
