Slain officer: Rivers Police Command says it’s closing in on prime suspect ‘2Baba’

Rivers CP, Disu

The Rivers State Police Command said its operatives are closing in on David Gift (a.k.a 2Baba), the prime suspect in the killing of Superintendent of Police (SP) Bako Angbashim, the late Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Police Division.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations, Olugbenga Adepoju, disclosed this yesterday, while returning electricity generators seized by the suspect to a company which owns them.

Adepoju, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said: “I am here to hand over some Perkins generators recovered by our tactical team. They were seized by the notorious and most wanted criminal in Rivers, David Gift (a.k.a 2Baba), who killed SP Bako Angbashim, the DPO of Ahoada Police Division, some months back. These generators were intercepted by him, some months ago. He seized them and demanded N20 million before they could be released.”

He added: “While we were on the search for him, we were able to locate the generators where he kept them. Our men tactically cordoned off the place and recovered them. We have the generators here with us.

“Today, we want to present them to the company. I don’t want to mention the name of the company for security reasons.

They are here with us now. This is one of our achievements. We are still on his trail, and by the grace of God, we will get him.

“Criminals should know that Rivers State is not a place for them to stay. They should advise themselves. We are warning every other person who wants to bring criminality back to the system.”
