Slovenian Andreja Ravnak Wins Photographer Of The Year

“Dream-like landscapes, intimate moments with nature, and captivating scenes from around the world take the spotlight in the 2023 Travel Photographer of the Year competition.


Slovenian photographer AndreJa Ravnak clinched the top spot with her mesmerizing European landscapes. The competition, featuring over 20,000 entries from 150 countries, showcased the diverse beauty and challenges of human interaction with nature.

Ravnak, an architect, expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of documenting our world for future generations.

She said; “I’ve seen many excellent and creative photos in this year’s TPOTY final and it’s such a great honour to find my work recognized,” she said.

“Congratulations to all the winners; together, we are enthusiastically documenting this wonderful world, and perhaps this is a small contribution, a reminder to preserve its wonder for future generations.”

Other notable winners include Athanasios Maloukos capturing Siberian shamans in the “People and Cultures” category and 14-year-old Caden Shepard Choi winning the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award for her poignant black-and-white series on the Navajo people in Arizona.

From mist-covered Tuscan hills to a fish peering from a glass bottle, these images invite viewers to explore the delicate balance between humanity and the environment.

The winning photos will be available online and showcased at exhibitions in Birmingham, UK, and Sharjah, UAE.”
