South-South APC passes vote of confidence on Tinubu, Akpabio, others

The Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress APC, South South Zone has passed a vote of confidence on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to consider contesting the office of the President for a second term in 2027.

This is part of a 14-point communique adopted as a resolution of the Committee and issued to newsmen at the end of its meeting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Sunday.

It expressed its profound gratitude to President Tinubu for his policies, projects, and programmes; particularly the economic reforms targeted at repositioning the Country.

The Committee, after deliberating on reports on the strengths, weaknesses, and reforms from the six states of the zone—Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers—also commended the president for his commitment to the coastal road project and the commencement of the construction from both ends of the project.

The Committee further thanked the president for the appointments so far made in favour of the region and implores him to consider more faithful party members for appointments at the Federal level.

The Committee also thanked the President for appointing Chief Nyesom Wike into his cabinet and urged him to continue with his good works and reaffirmed its unwavering support for the policies and programs of the present administration in areas of good governance, economic reforms, national security, and infrastructural development.

The party passed a vote of confidence on the President of the Senate, Sen (Dr) Godswill O. Akpabio, as the Leader of the APC in the zone and Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, as the coordinator of the South-South geo-political zone as well as Hon. Chief Victor Giadom and the Zonal Executive Members of the Party.

The Committee also resolved to mobilize available party assets towards winning more states; particularly using the forthcoming elections in Edo State as a test case and to set up a reconciliation Committee in the South-South region headed by Governor Bassey Otu

The Committee also resolved to mobilize efforts towards the e-registration program of the All Progressives Congress by creating the required awareness to engender inclusivity, participation, and ownership of the party.

The Zonal Executive Committee unanimously congratulated the President of the 10th Senate, Dr Godswill Akpabio on his emergence as the Chairman of the National Assembly and President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, noting that whereas the Late Sen. Joseph Wayas served as President of the Senate 45 years ago, the incumbent President of the Senate has broken several jinx and milestones by also emerging as the Executive Committee Member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); 60 years after Nigeria’s membership in that global legislative space.

The APC South-South commended the Coordinator of the South-South geo-political zone, Governor Bassey Edet Otu for hosting a successful South-South Zonal meeting and the National Vice Chairman South-South APC, Hon. Chief Victor Gladom for convening the Zonal meeting of the region.
