Nigerian champions, Bayelsa Queens, are sitting pretty in Group B of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B qualifier, holding in Cote d’Ivoire.
Bayelsa United have six points from two games, followed by Ghana’s Police Ladies and Benin’s Sam Nelly FC, who are tied on three points apiece, but the Police sit second thanks to a superior goal difference (+1). Their crucial 3–1 victory over Sam Nelly revived their campaign after an opening setback.
At the bottom, ASKO (Togo) remain without a point after two defeats, having conceded four goals without reply, leaving their qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
In Group A, hosts ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire) and USFA (Burkina Faso) are level at the summit with three points each after winning their opening matches. AS GNN (Niger) have also played two matches but remain without a point and are out of the competition.
Bayelsa Queens are already sure of a semifinal slot, but they still have to face Sam Nelly in the final group game tomorrow. However, the stakes are high for Ghana’s Police Ladies as they face AS Kozah (Togo) in a decisive clash for a place in the semifinals.
