COAS Shooters upset Road Safety as Osun United beat Rima

High-riding Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Shooters, yesterday, continued their impressive run at the Ardova Handball Premier League by beating Safety Shooters 32-31.

The ongoing handball league in Benin, Edo State, has been as exciting as it has featured intriguing games, with the COAS Shooters providing their fair share of the surprises.
 
Yesterday’s game was no less interesting as it kept the fans on the edges of their seats, with the teams taking turns to take the lead at various points. But at the end, the newly promoted COAS had the last laugh as they came from 14-13 goals down in the first half to record the famous win.
 
In other games, Osun United shocked league leaders, Rima Strikers, 28-24 in a match they led 18-11 in the first half. Correction Boys also bounced back from Monday’s defeat by Rima Strikers to beat Benue Buffaloes 26-18.
 
In the women’s category, Imo Grasshoppers lost to Safety Babes 31-26, while Rivers Angels beat Ekiti Queens 31-23.
 
Meanwhile, Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) President, Samuel Ocheho, has urged the teams to play fair, respect their opponents, and adhere strictly to the rules of the competition no matter the outcome of their games.
 
Acknowledging the improved performance of the teams, Ocheho commended the players, whom he described as the ambassadors of the game, just as he praised the coaches, the technical department, and other stakeholders for their contributions towards a hitch-free competition.
 
The HFN president also commended Ardova PLC for bankrolling the league, noting that the firm will have a special place in the game’s hall of fame.
