Egypt’s Bear Clan has won the $7,500 top prize in the Carry1st Africa Cup Grand Championship, which featured the continent’s elite esports stars.
The electrifying fusion of music, community, and competition powered by Spotify, saw a mix of top-tier gamers, creators, and media personalities unite to celebrate Africa’s thriving esports scene.
Day one was a non-stop thrill ride with eight elite teams, including Kenya’s Delta Sports, Nigeria’s home favourites Sierra 7 and Eclipse Gaming putting up a masterclass in skill and strategy. And when the digital action paused, the real-world party kicked off, as DJ six7even kept the energy soaring, spinning a flawless mix of Afrobeats and global anthems that turned the arena floor into a dance-off.
By the end of the day, only four teams remained to vie for the grand prize: South Africa’s Paradox, Egypt’s Bear Clan, and Nigeria’s two powerhouses.
On the second day, the stakes and the excitement hit a fever pitch. The crowd’s cheers echoed with every clutch move, amplified by performances from Nigeria’s rising music stars, Llona and Shoday, who lit up the stage with show-stopping sets that brought the house down.
Speaking after the event, Spotify’s Associate Director, Marketing, Sub-Saharan Africa, Sithabile Kachisa, said: “The Carry1st Africa Cup was more than just a gaming tournament; it was a vibrant showcase of how music and community power the future of entertainment.
