Nigeria’s Boniface fails medicals to join AC Milan

Nigeria and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface will no longer join Serie A giants AC Milan in this summer transfer window.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed on Sunday that Boniface, who spent two days in Italy to finalise his move from the German side, failed his medicals

“AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests,” Romano posted on X.

“Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical.

“Boniface, returning to Germany today.”

Consequently, the Italian side has made contact with Sporting for Conrad Harder as an option to Boniface.

While it was unclear if Boniface’s transfer to Milan would materialise, Bayer Leverkusen director Rolfes predicted that the deal will not happen should the Nigerian striker return to Germany.

“If Boniface comes back to Leverkusen, the AC Milan deal will be over. That’s no big secret,” Rolfes said.

He also shut the door to renegotiating a deal to transfer Boniface to AC Milan.

“I don’t think that will happen,” he told BILD. “His (Boniface) physical situation has improved compared to the beginning.”
