Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President, Habu Ahmed Gumel, has charged participants at the just concluded International Olympic Committee (IOC) sports administration certificate course held in Mowe, Ogun State to return to their base and apply their newly acquired skills towards advancing the development of sports in Nigeria.
The NOC organised the course in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
In his closing remarks at the event, Gumel congratulated the participants for acquiring new sports administration skills to enhance their knowledge, adding that it has given them the skills to impact positively on the development of sports in their districts.
The course attracted not less than 27 RCCG Sports Directors from across the country.
The programme was aimed at promoting structured and sustainable sports programme across RCCG districts, build leadership and administrative capacity among sports directors, leverage sports for evangelism and community engagement and identify emerging athletic talents for future national and international competitions.
Among the facilitators were Dr. (Mrs) Esther O. Aluko and Emmanuel Nweri, both IOC National Course Directors, as well as NOC’s Project Officer, Mrs Deborah Ijeoma Chidobi. The speakers included IOC Advanced Sports Management Course Programme Director, Prof. Clement Fasan; Prof. Abiodun Moronfolu, Lagos State University (LASU); former chairman, NOC Medical Commission, Dr. Akin Amao; CEO, Dynaspro Sports Academy, Mr. Oyebode Oluseyi, and Deputy Dean, Afuze College of Education, Dr. Rasheed Oyakhire.
At the end of the course, the participants expressed deep appreciation for the practical insight and collaborative atmosphere while asking for more of such courses to further strengthen the Olympic ideals within the RCCG’s sports ministry.
