Onochie Junior Onyebueke, popularly known as Sk Boi, was born on June 30, 1996, in the quiet town of Achi, Enugu State, Nigeria. His name, “Onochie,” meaning “Reincarnation,” reflects the Igbo belief that he is the spiritual rebirth of his paternal grandfather. As the youngest of seven children, he was raised in a culturally rich environment filled with traditional stories and values that would later shape his artistic journey.
From an early age, Sk Boi developed a strong connection to music. By the age of seven, he was already playing the drums with remarkable rhythm and passion. During his high school years in Awka, Anambra State, he discovered his vocal talent and began experimenting with rap. He skillfully blended the Igbo dialect with street slangs and English to create a unique sound that quickly resonated with local audiences.
In 2014, he became a regular at Signature Studios in Awka, owned by rapper Bosalin. There, he learned from top artists such as Phyno, Zoro, and Mr Raw, gaining hands-on experience that sharpened his craft. His major breakthrough came in 2015 with a viral freestyle cover of Phyno’s “Oringo,” followed by his debut single, “Ga N’Iru.” In 2016, he released “Manchi,” produced by Lil Switt, which became a street anthem and significantly boosted his visibility. The music video, directed by Obi Forbes, further expanded his reach.
In 2017, Sk Boi relocated to the United States in search of new opportunities. While music remained at the core of his passion, he also ventured into business. He founded Afro Plug, a fast-growing brand specializing in artist tours, event promotions, and concert curation. Afro Plug has since become a prominent platform connecting African artists with international stages and audiences.
Beyond the entertainment space, Sk Boi has proven to be a visionary entrepreneur. He has built a diverse investment portfolio in cryptocurrency, stocks, and forex trading. With a growing interest in technology, he is also exploring opportunities in the tech industry, aiming to integrate innovation with African cultural narratives.
Today, Sk Boi is not only an artist and businessman but also a devoted husband and father. His journey from playing drums in Achi to leading projects and businesses across continents is a testament to his resilience, creativity, and ambition. Through music, entrepreneurship, and innovation, he continues to inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact on the global stage.
