Stuttgart sign Bouanani as Woltemade replacement

Stuttgart have moved fast to replace the departed Nick Woltemade, bringing in Algeria forward Badredine Bouanani from French side Nice on Sunday.

Having rejected several offers from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich for Woltemade through the summer, Stuttgart agreed to sell the forward to Premier League Newcastle on Saturday for a fee of up to 80 million euros ($93 million).

The France-born Bouanani, who has five caps for Algeria, signed a deal until 2030 in Stuttgart for a reported fee of 20 million euros.

With Woltemade gone, Stuttgart’s striking situation was made worse with Germany forward Deniz Undav facing a stint on the sidelines after injuring his knee in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Borussia Moenchengladbach.
