‘UEFA Champions League final live screening was to inflame passion’

While the streets of Paris and other major French cities were gay with PSG fans waiting for their team’s glorious crowning as Europe’s best team, football fans in Lagos were also treated to an unforgettable night by Mastercard, which brought the thrill of Europe’s most prestigious club football tournament to Nigeria with an exclusive live screening of the final at The Palms Mall, Lekki.

According to Mastercard, the live broadcast of the game was part of its 2025 Africa Football Passion campaign. The event offered more than just a match viewing; it was a vibrant platform for business leaders, corporate partners, and key stakeholders to connect, celebrate, and explore new opportunities.

As Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan faced off on the pitch, attendees were treated to a premium experience that blended football passion with cultural expression. The event featured interactive innovation booths, engaging on-ground activities, and entertainment that highlighted Nigerian culture, including a live performance by acclaimed artist 9ice.  Football legend, Joseph Yobo, also joined the event, providing inspiration and adding to the evening’s unique appeal.

Speaking at the event, Mastercard’s Country Manager and Area Business Head for West Africa, Dr Folasade Femi-Lawal, said “Football is more than a sport in Nigeria—it’s a language of unity, pride and passion.”

“Through our Africa Football Passion campaign, Mastercard created opportunities for fans to feel seen, heard, and celebrated. At Mastercard, we go beyond transactions to deliver truly unique experiences, connecting consumers to what they love most.”
