Stakeholder predicts seamless port operations in 2024

Managing Director of Kaystone Global Resources Limited, Benita Afolabi has predicted seamless operations in the Maritime sector in 2024, following innovations from Customs and the Nigerian government.

She said that in recent times, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), in a stakeholders meeting has reiterated its commitment to engage measures to enhance the ease of operations, which should be effected by the first quarter of 2024. Implementation of this, she stated, would result in sectoral development.

She added that the challenges experienced over the years in the Maritime sector have been curtailed with government intervention while calling on stakeholders to work in partnership with the government and customs to actualise seamless operations at the Port.

Speaking at the firm’s 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving and launch of the newly-opened bonded terminal in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State, Afolabi, stressed the importance of engaging Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and urged stakeholders in the maritime business to embrace gender equality and inclusion in the sector.

According to her, the firm aims to leverage international opportunities and collaboration by starting the process for the acquisition of ships to meet the demands of Nigeria’s local and international market, which would help curb Nigeria’s low participation in international shipping and develop the sector.
