Stop attack on Tinubu, pursue only cause that promotes Yoruba interest, youths tell Adebanjo

President-Elect Bola Tinubu

Bishop urges president-elect to form inclusive government
A group, Yoruba Youth Socio-Cultural Association (YYSA), yesterday, urged Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, to stop attack on the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement signed by Habib Hammed (National President) and Olawale Ajao (National Secretary).

The youths urged Adebanjo to play the role of an elder statesman instead of attacking Tinubu.

The group said: ‘’Chief Adebanjo at this point should embark on only remarkable roles of an elder statesman.

“He has been so privileged to partake in political affairs of the country for so long, having been blessed with longevity and sound health.

“It would be a large encomium if he is maintaining a true position of an elder statesman and prioritises probity instead of perpetually acting a script of opposition.

“Sincerely, his serial attacks on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have degenerated to unbecoming comments whenever people read newspapers.

“Moreover, Baba needs to change his style because Afenifere is now merely known as a medium through which opposition stance is being made known to the public.”

Meanwhile, Bishop of Ijesa North Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd. Isaac Oluyamo, yesterday, charged the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure that individuals in other political parties who are capable of adding values are included in his administration.

According to the cleric, competence and character should be the watchword of Tinubu in appointing those that would join him in transforming the country, rather than considering only people in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his cabinet and other public offices.

Bishop Oluyamo, who gave the charge during his 60th birthday anniversary and thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Okeluse, Ondo State, condemned alleged attempt at imposing interim government on the citizens, saying nothing should stop the president-elect from being sworn in on May 29, 2023.

The clergyman further advised Tinubu to embrace other political parties and work with them for the betterment of the country, adding that the former Lagos State governor should focus more on competence and not political affiliation.

“Election has come and gone. We need to heal and move on. One of the ways for this healing to happen is by ensuring that everyone is brought on board in the Nigerian project. On this note, I want to urge the president-elect to embrace other political parties in his administration.”

“He should also focus more on individuals with competence and character to form his cabinet and not necessarily those in his political party, the APC.

“It’s important we condemn the reported planned installation of interim government. This is a dangerous move and everyone should reject it. Tinubu should be sworn in on May 29 and all Nigerians should support his government for the betterment of our country,” Oluyamo said.
