Sugar producers assure of price stability during Ramadan


Major sugar refiners in the country have promised the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, that they would not increase sugar prices during the Ramadan.


This decision, according to Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Tolu Moyan, resonates strongly with the objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda and highlighted during the recent tour by the minister.

During her visits to leading sugar producers, such as Dangote Sugar Refinery, BUA Sugar Refinery of Nigeria, Bestaf, Golden Sugar Company and Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, Uzoka-Anite observed a steadfast commitment to maintaining price stability.

“Be assured that there will be no increase in sugar prices, especially during Ramadan,” the minister affirmed, reflecting the refineries’ dedication to supporting the country during this significant period.

“The firms’ pledge is a clear demonstration of their alignment with the government’s efforts to bolster the agriculture sector and food security, key components of Tinubu’s transformative agenda.

“I have witnessed their dedication to high-quality sugar production. While commendable, our collective goal demands a higher standard,” she stated.
