Fast-rising talented Nigerian singer, Onugha Victor Chike, fondly referred to as SunshineGzuz, has released a new single he tagged as ‘jam of the summer’, “Popo”, featuring Highstarlavista.
SunshineGzuz announced the release of his highly anticipated track in a post to his Instagram handle on Friday.
“We don’t wanna do anything to scare your children, that’s the last thing we wanna do. We don’t wanna scare anybody. Glad to announce the release of the most anticipated jam of the summer #POP0 ft highstarlavista,” wrote SunshineGzuz.
The Afrobeat artiste and songwriter broke into limelight three years ago during the outbreak of COVID-19. He first captivated the world with
“Energy”, before releasing “Why, “Joromi” and “Don’t stress it” later in 2020. It was that year he made real his dream and left his fear in the imagination. SunshineGzuz enchanted the world with his sonorous voice and immediately won the heart of many in Nigeria and around the globe.
In 2022, SunshineGzuz gained more traction in the Nigerian music industry with another two great hit songs: “Kontrola and “Correct”, featuring Suscex and Scotty in the latter. The singer, who comes from Obosi in Anambra State, is regarded as one of the best R&B voices to have come out of the South-eastern part of the country, precisely for his unique voice.
SunshineGzuz stole the spotlight last year, when he remixed cover for Bnxn’s hit track, Finesse. This further cemented his place in the industry as a budding sensation, billed to take over as the next big thing to the best.
In a media chat, Onugha Victor Chike revealed that writing his music himself is a milestone in his career. According to him, writing the lyrics helps him relate more with the song like his fans.
“I have this special gift of writing songs. As a recording artist, you must try to mirror the people you want to relay the message in the song to and mold your writing to look as perfect and appealing,” he stated.
SunshineGzuz’s new single, “Popo”, as well as his other tracks, are streaming on Apple, Spotify and other international platforms.
