Supernatural favour

The word “supernatural” means something that is beyond the natural; something extraordinary; something that is beyond human comprehension and ability; and something beyond the terrestrial. Supernatural favour is, therefore, the kindness of God or an exceptional act of the Holy Spirit granted to man. An example is the salvation we have in Jesus. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast,” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV).

Everything about Jesus is supernatural! His birth was supernatural. His ministry was supernatural. His love for humanity was supernatural. His death on the cross was supernatural. His resurrection was supernatural and power and kindness are supernatural. Jesus reigns as King in the realm of the supernatural and therefore has the ability to grant supernatural favours to anyone who comes to him in faith.

Though human, his death was supernatural, which is why he came “in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he (God) condemned sin in the flesh” (Romans 8:3). This is the great exchange. This is again stated in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

The sacrifice of Jesus provided us with divine favour. Whatever favour we seek or would have come from Jesus. Out of his fullness, we have all received and would continue to receive.

“For out of His fullness (the superabundance of His grace and truth) we have all received grace upon grace (spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift],” (John 1:16 AMP).

Jesus never stops giving favours. Every favour we receive is a gift from him. Paul said, “For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?” (I Corinthians 4:7 NKJV).

The love of Jesus for us is beyond the natural. It is boundless and without limit. As the Psalmist said, “Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!” (Psalms 63:3 NLT).

Romans 8:32 says, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 NKJV).

We should note the word “freely.” God gives his favours freely to those who come to him by faith. For instance, through Jesus, we are adopted into the family of God. “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son,…to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons,” (Galatians 4:4-5 NKJV)

Through Jesus we were made sons in God’s kingdom, “Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ,” (Galatians 4:7 NKJV).

Through him, we have obtained unfailing mercies. “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness,” (Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV).

Through him, we were embraced in his supernatural love. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” (Romans 8:35 NKJV).

Ephesians 1 verse 3-14 lists eight blessings that are ours due to the finished work of Christ Jesus. All these are evidence of his supernatural favour toward us.
