Supreme Court dismisses ADC’s appeal, set Friday to rule on PDP case against Yahaya

Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya

The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against the election of Governor Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the dispute over the last governorship election in Gombe State.

This followed the withdrawal of the appeal by Albert Nwoye, counsel to the candidate of the ADC, Nafiu Bala in the appeal against challenging the election of Yahaya.

The apex Court has also on Thursday scheduled judgment for Friday, January 19, in the dispute by PDP and its candidate over the Gombe governorship election.

Jibrin Barde, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the party are, by their appeal, seeking to void the election of Governor Muhammad Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, announced the date for judgment after lawyers to parties adopted their written briefs on Thursday morning.
