Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) has challenged 458 newly registered surveyors to practice with integrity and uphold ethical principles in the built environment.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, urged them to focus on shaping the future of the surveying profession and join the ranks of registered surveyors in geospatial world.

Dangiwa also enjoined them to aspire, motivate, and encourage, as well as work towards making a positive impact in the building industry. He pointed out that this year induction has the highest number ever joining the profession.

President, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Matthew Ibitoye, called on the new entrants to stay abreast of new technologies.

He charged the new surveyors to uphold the principles of fairness, accuracy and honesty in every aspect of the work while stating that the badge of surveyors is not a mark of skills, but a symbol of trust and ethical integrity.

The Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Abdulganiyu Adebomehim, urged the inductees to play a pivotal role in the sustainable development, territorial integrity and economic prosperity of the country.

The SGoF noted that surveying is blessed with diverse landscapes, cultures, and opportunities; the responsibility placed upon surveyors is not merely technical but deeply intertwined with national identity and progress.

“The world around us is undergoing rapid transformation driven by technological advancements, climate change, and shifting geopolitical landscapes. As surveyors, your role transcends traditional boundaries,” Adebomehim added.
