For any nation, society or individual to achieve and sustain its growth and development, it must always embrace and integrate developing trends, which are often driven by youths.
This is because youths, in any clime, are the harbingers of development in terms of providing leadership ICT and other technological considerations.
The new President of Secretariat Membership Club, Ayodeji Randle, stated this while unfolding the agenda of newly elected executives of the club.
He said: “In the world today, of which Nigeria is an important component, if we don’t embrace youths and their lofty innovative ideas, we will not record much development, talk less of sustaining any growth.
“Just as Nigeria must integrate youths into its leadership to grow and sustain the nation, so also all entities within the country, such as Secretariat Membership Club, should embrace youths because their survival, development and sustenance largely depend on the futuristic input youths bring to the table.”
According to him, one of the cardinal objectives of new executive of Secretariat Membership Club is to continue the membership drive of the club, with greater emphasis on youths, towards leveraging their vast knowledge and towards making the club a national and global icon, driven by latest ideas in club management.
He said the club was not only set up for the welfare of members but for the well-being of the larger society, where it operates.
“We bring improvement to bear on the society, first by making sure our members are good citizens of the nation, where they live. We preach love and unity among Nigerians. We also do advocacy talks towards addressing challenges facing the nations.”
Earlier on January 28, at the Annual General Meeting of the Club, the immediate past President, Captain Gabriel Ade Ayeni, had listed the lofty achievements of the club, especially in the area of infrastructure.
He added: “Worthy of note is the remarkable improvement in our membership drive, We expect it to keep improving by committing ourselves to bringing in young and dynamic individuals into our midst.”
In his report at the AGM, the General Secretary, Muyiwa Oremuyiwa, said the club admitted 20 members during their tenure and under the leadership of Captain Gabriel Ade Ayeni.
He applauded improvement in the club, particularly the kitchen, which is one of the facilities designed to make the club home away from home.
In his acceptance speech at the AGM following his election as the new President of the club, Randle had said, among others: “From my experiences in other leadership positions I held in other organisations, I have come to understand there is little or nothing an executive body can achieve without the cooperation and blessings of the people that elected them.
“I, therefore, on behalf of the new leadership, seek your collaboration and support in the great assignment you have given us. Without your collaboration and support, there is little or nothing the new executive body can achieve.”
