The Association of African Start-ups (TAAS) has opened a new window of opportunity for entrepreneurs and small and medium businesses to expand their various lines of business.
Chief Executive Officer of TAAS, Omayemi Sage, who disclosed this during the launch of the TAAS Learning hub in Gbagada, Lagos, said the initiative cuts various sectors like Agriculture, fashion and education among others, where entrepreneurs will be trained with the various skills needed to excel in their businesses.
While calling on entrepreneurs to invest their time and effort in expanding their trades, he said: “The learning hub would help entrepreneurs to get trained, empowered and create opportunities for them to expand. Our country today needs to empower the entrepreneurs for them to help build the nation’s economy.”
Also speaking, President of TAAS, Just Ibe, who encouraged entrepreneurs to always put in their best into building their trades, described the learning hub as a great opportunity for entrepreneurs. “This launch is a wake-up call to all small and medium business holders as the learning hub is a well-tailored framework for entrepreneurs, which involves a 12-month boot camp, where three trainers and one mentor will be invited monthly to help train and motivate the entrepreneurs.
“The start-up is meant to challenge and be a means of a support system to help encourage the entrepreneurs for them not to settle for less.”
She added that the start-ups doesn’t focus only on a particular sector, it rather encompasses general entrepreneurial skills and challenges. “The first year of the boot camp would focus mainly on the entrepreneurial skill and that means we’ll help train the entrepreneurs with the various skills needed in business, then the second year would focus on the various sectors, which involves agriculture, fashion, education and so on.
“There’s a lot to be gained which involves skills, knowledge, impact and at the end of the year a fund would be given to those outstanding to help in empowering them.”
